Will Clint Eastwood Direct the Jersey Boys Movie?

What you have to ask yourself is...will Clint Eastwood direct the big-screen adaptation of Jersey Boys? The Oscar-winning filmmaker is in talks with Hollywood producers to take on the highly-anticipated movie musical, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Eastwood was set to direct a remake of A Star is Born, but that project is still having casting difficulties after the departure of Beyoncé. 

As previously reported, Iron Man director Jon Favreau was set to direct the film adaptation of Jersey Boys, but the movie's lead producers halted production to shop the film around to other studios. "Sources say there were some conversations with FOX, but now that Eastwood is in the picture, the project could be heading back to Warner Brothers." Eastwood would likely direct Jersey Boys first then follow with A Star Is Born.

Jersey Boys tells the story of how Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi became one of the top-singing groups of the '60s before they even turned 30. Like the show, the film will incorporate hits such as “Sherry,” “Oh What a Night,” Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”

Eastwood has directed J. Edgar, Hereafter, Invictus, Gran Torino, Changeling, Letters from Iwo Jima, Flags of Our Fathers, Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and The Bridges of Madison County.

Jersey Boys currently plays at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre and stars Andy Karl, Drew Gehling, Matt Bogart and John Lloyd Young as Frankie Valli. The musical opened on November 6, 2005. Des McAnuff's production won four 2006 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
